SUMMARY:Pray for Ukraine
DESCRIPTION:We are asking folks to register soon so we can organize food and treats. \nAgenda\n\n5:00 PM – 5:30 PM – Check-in\, grab dinner plate\, find your seat\n5:30 PM – 6:00 PM – Dinner and viewing short film “Outpost Ukraine”\nThis moving short film highlights important history and spiritual reasons for Russia’s war against Ukraine.\n6:00 PM – 7:30 PM – Prayer program followed by Ukrainian dessert treats\n\nDetails\nThe situation in Ukraine is certainly highlighting the news cycle and there is loads of conflicting information about what is really happening and what are the solutions to bring lasting peace. We gather to share first hand accounts from Ukrainians on the ground and in the know\, and want to provide an inside look for the purpose of prayer. You will hear from a Ukrainian military chaplain and from a pastor of a church in Russian-occupied territory. \n\nWe will unite as followers of Christ and pray to our almighty God and the Prince of Peace for topics such as the peace\, security\, and future of Ukraine.\nWe will lift up political leaders\, pastors\, churches\, and Ukrainian citizens like widows\, orphans\, soldiers\, military chaplains.\nIn addition\, we will pray for persecuted Protestant believers and churches in the occupied territories as well as for those suffering as a result of the war.\nLastly\, we will pray for the well-being of our Ukrainian refugee neighbors\, a number of whom you will pray alongside.\n\nThe people of Ukraine need comfort\, support and hope. And the Ukrainian refugee community will be blessed as followers of Jesus come alongside and show the love of Christ to them in tangible\, transformational ways. \nWe will enjoy worship in English with a few verses in Ukrainian to help fix our eyes on Jesus. \nEnjoy the opportunity to meet some of your Ukrainian neighbors. \n—————– \nSome information about the Ukrainian community in Austin: \nOver 5\,000 Ukrainians live in the Austin area. The majority have arrived since the full-scale invasion began three years ago. They’ve come to the U.S.\, not seeking a better life but safety for their families and a future for their kids. \nUkrainians are hard-working\, well-educated\, with strong moral and family values. Imagine starting from scratch in a new country with limited language while dealing with grief\, loss\, trauma\, and your home country devastated by war? \nThere are a handful of local churches and organizations reaching out to help Ukrainian refugees. We will have information available for those interested to learn more. \n\n  \nUkrainian friends gathered in Austin to cheer on their boxing champion\, Oleksandr Usyk in his successful rematch over Tyson Fury. \nSupport group for Ukrainian refugees in Austin called Finding Home Again covering topics like transition\, grief\, loss\, trauma\, parenting\, and identity.

SUMMARY:Finding Home Again Welcome Event for Ukrainian Refugees
DESCRIPTION:This month\, Cru City Austin and Texas 4 Ukraine have partnered to host two service projects to bless and help local Ukrainian families who have recently settled in Austin. Families arrive with only the suitcases they checked on the plane. They are exhausted\, traumatized\, overwhelmed\, and in desperate need of someone to befriend them and walk this unknown journey alongside them!  The Good News is we can work together as a community to welcome and assist these new Ukrainian neighbors as they settle in the Austin area. \nSaturday\, September 9\, we hosted a packing party assembling “Welcome Boxes” for 100 families. Each box includes a variety of Texas and Ukrainian treats\, a tea kettle\, and various small kitchen items\, along with information on processing trauma and navigating this difficult transition. We will distribute these boxes to families on September 30 at a separate celebration event.

SUMMARY:Courage in Crisis: When Life Hangs in the Balance
DESCRIPTION:Every parent’s worst nightmare. Kristin and Darin Coulter brought their 4 year old son Owen to Dell Children’s Hospital on December 13\, 2018. \nOwen’s heart stopped in the ER\, and then doctors performed 90 minutes of CPR.\nIf he miraculously survived\, what damage might he have sustained? His parents were told\, “He may not know who you are. He may not be able to eat or walk.” \nThe crisis the Coulters faced that day and the weeks following would require tremendous courage.\nHow did they do it? What helped them endure such a terrifying experience? \nJoin us on Tuesday\, March 9th from 12-1pm CST to hear the Coulter’s story of “Courage In Crisis – when life hangs in the balance.” \nYou will find hope and encouragement to face the crises in your own life.

SUMMARY:“What happens after we die?!”
DESCRIPTION:A city-wide Media Campaign (radio\, TV\, billboards\, social media) has begun that will pose the question\, “What Happens After We Die?” for everyone in Austin to consider. \nLocal pastor\, John Burke wrote the best-selling book\, Imagine Heaven to describe the experiences of thousands of people who have gone through a “near death experience” (NDE) and come back to tell amazing stories of their journeys.  You can hear about the campaign here. \n  \nThe stories are compelling but even more exciting – this city-wide campaign will make heaven top-of-mind for everyone in Austin and lead to thousands of spiritual conversations for those prepared to capitalize on the opportunity!\nThat’s where Cru comes in. We are preparing a seminar to equip you with easy\, simple ways to have those spiritual conversations with people intrigued by the campaign. \n \nDr. Mary Neal\nHear her story here. \nJoin the Cru staff team and volunteers for a luncheon seminar on\, How to Start Spiritual Conversations based on the “What’s After” campaign. \nBarna surveys indicate that while the average person in the marketplace won’t attend a church\, they are having conversations in the workplace about spiritual matters every week! You can help meet that interest!\nAt this seminar you will learn: \n\nHow to build rapport to open the door to meaningful conversations\nHow to recognize spiritual interest based on the media campaign\nHow to use free books about the topic we will give you!\nHow to springboard from interest in the campaign to spiritual conversations\nHow to sensitively transition to sharing the gospel\n\nWe will give you copies of the book\, “What’s After Life” to give to your friends to further springboard from the campaign. This book is a shorter version of the best seller mentioned above. \nThis will be a unique and strategic outreach to the whole city. You will want to be prepared to respond to the interest of people around you that is generated by the Campaign. \nDETAILS: \nWhen:  Thursday\, 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM\, March 5\, 2020. \nWhere: Cru Office\, 8213-A Shoal Creek Blvd\, SUITE 201\, Austin\, TX 78757 \nCost: $5.00 (includes a box lunch and materials) \nRSVP:  Click link to REGISTER NOW.  Or email austin@cru.org  or call Sande at 512-458-9872 x8041 \n\nVision of Cru City Austin\nTo connect people to Jesus and develop spiritual leaders who\nwill advance the mission of Jesus to impact Austin and the world.

SUMMARY:What is True Success?
DESCRIPTION:A Huffington Post article right after the Winter Olympics explained that a number of gold medal winners suffered from depression after winning. \nIn every arena many people achieve lifetime goals only to discover those achievements didn’t give the significance hoped for\, and their quest wasn’t worth it. \nWhat exactly is success? How does one define success in a world that’s changing by the moment? Can we define success only in material terms? Or is there a spiritual dimension to life that brings greater significance? \nOn Thursday\, September 19\, 2019\, Daniel Rangel explored these issues and shared insights on finding real success in life. \nIf you would like to hear an audio podcast of his talk you can access it here to stream or download. \n  \nDANIEL RANGEL – Featured Speaker   \n\nCEO\, Houston International Equipment\nSpeaks to businesses and universities\nPassionate about bringing clarity to questions regarding the intersection of faith and life\nGifted communicator trained at Oxford
