Want to have fun and give back to our community, helping people who need our help?

Can you paint with a brush or paint roller, like to landscape, donate some gently used clothes or give monetarily?

On Saturday morning, June 1, Cru City Austin is sponsoring a service project to support Texas Reach Out, a local non-profit organization that provides transitional housing for men and women recently released from prison.

These ex-offenders desperately need a positive, safe place to live while they get their lives back in order. TRO provides housing, meals, life skills training, job counseling and spiritual encouragement for these men and women who are ready to change their life course. www.texasreachout.org

We are looking for 30-35 people who can give four hours to work on this house and have a desire to help people who want to rebuild their lives.  If you’d like to be a part of this demonstration of love and service, click here.

• If you can’t paint but would like to participate, we’ll have some non-painting jobs like sorting and distributing clothes, paint “helpers” and  landscaping jobs.

• If you are an experienced painter or tile layer, please let us know. (Kay.scheffelin@cru.org)

• We are asking each person to donate $10 towards the cost of the paint if possible.  If all you can give is your time and muscles, that is gratefully appreciated.

• If you have gently used casual or business clothing (men’s or women’s),  shoes, or purses that you’d like to donate, we’ll be collecting these and taking them to the TRO clothes closet that morning as well.

  

• Lunch and snacks will be provided (lunch is courtesy of Smokie Mo’s!).

Paint the outside of the house and storage shed, plus landscaping and some minor repairs inside.
