This month, Cru City Austin and Texas 4 Ukraine have partnered to host two service projects to bless and help local Ukrainian families who have recently settled in Austin. Families arrive with only the suitcases they checked on the plane. They are exhausted, traumatized, overwhelmed, and in desperate need of someone to befriend them and walk this unknown journey alongside them! The Good News is we can work together as a community to welcome and assist these new Ukrainian neighbors as they settle in the Austin area.
Saturday, September 9, we hosted a packing party assembling “Welcome Boxes” for 100 families. Each box includes a variety of Texas and Ukrainian treats, a tea kettle, and various small kitchen items, along with information on processing trauma and navigating this difficult transition. We will distribute these boxes to families on September 30 at a separate celebration event.
